What things did you enjoy the most about your experience this week?
The first week of the 1Five experiment has been incredibly insightful on several things, but most of all it “forced” me to think about how to best balance my habits in order to stay within the daily budget.
What were the main challenges you faced during the week?
I never struggled so far in staying within my daily emission limits (I figured my lifestyle’s carbon footprint is actually less than I thought), but then I found myself thinking: what if I could change my eating habits towards an even lower carbon diet? When looking at the emissions coming from a high white meat meal, compared to a vegan (non-seasonal) meal, the difference is astonishing. A lesson that lead me to one thought: I can do definitively better than this.
What were your main lessons learned of the week?
racking your consumption can be overwhelming, but revealing at the same time: whether your lifestyle is already close to “low-carbon” or you not at all, you can always get the chance to do better. The main lesson learned this week? Trying to have a more sustainable lifestyle does not happen from one day to another: considering the challenges we can face every day, we are “allowed” to take a small step at a time, as long as these bring us to the right direction and become a constant in our life.
What would have made it easier for you to achieve your target this week?
Definitively not having the small extra treats I like to have on weekends or sometimes during the week (cigarettes, drinks, car sharing).
